Composer Pianists Lecture Recital
*Unfortunately, lecture recitals are unavailable during the COVID-19 Pandemic.*
This lecture recital explores works by great composer pianists and examines what it means from a historical perspective to write in an idiomatic way for the piano. Works by more contemporary composers, such as John Cage and Helmut Lachenmann, are then used to challenge the premise of idiomatic piano writing. Recital length is approximately 40 minutes with 20 minutes of lecture - for a total run time of 1 hour.
Exact repertoire for this recital changes on a regular basis as Dr. Ball is constantly exploring new repertoire. Please contact Dr. Ball for the most up to date program.
